Privacy Policy

Civics128 is built to be privacy-first. We designed it so you can study without giving us any personal information.

What we store

Your study data is stored locally in your own web browser using localStorage on your device. This includes:

• Your selected study language and state
• Your progress and mastery level for each question
• Your weak (needs-review) questions
• Your mock interview scores and history
• Your audio speed preference and study streak

This data never leaves your device through Civics128 and is not sent to any server. Clearing your browser data or using “Reset progress” in Settings will erase it.

What we do NOT collect

We do not ask for or store any of the following:

• Your name, email, phone number, or address
• Your A-number or green card number
• Your date of birth or immigration status
• Your exact location
• Voice recordings (audio is output only; we never record you)

Audio

The “Listen” and “Slow” features use your browser’s built-in text-to-speech to read official questions aloud. We do not use speech recognition and we never capture or store microphone input.

Analytics

We use Vercel Speed Insights (anonymous page-load and Web Vitals timing) and Vercel Web Analytics (anonymous, aggregated product events such as “started a mock interview” or “opened the waitlist”) to understand what is useful and keep the site fast. These tools do not collect personal information, do not build an advertising profile of you, use no third-party advertising cookies, and never receive your email address or any free text you write. Event tracking records only an event name and a small, non-identifying label (for example, your chosen study-language code).

Waitlist (optional)

Civics128 has no account system, and you never have to give us anything to study. On the optional waitlist page the only thing we collect is an email address — so we can let you know when new features (study reminders, progress backup, and Pro features) are ready. We do not ask for your interview date, immigration status, or any other personal information. The email is collected through our third-party form provider (Tally), which processes it under its own privacy policy; if the form is ever unavailable, the button instead opens your own email app so you can write to us directly. We use any email you provide only to contact you about Civics128, never sell it, and never add it to analytics.

No payment

No payment is collected anywhere in this version. There is no checkout and nothing is charged. Any future Pro features are simply “coming soon” — joining the waitlist costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Children

Civics128 is a general-audience study tool and is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this app later adds optional accounts or paid features, this policy will be updated to describe any data those features use.
