Frequently asked questions

Is this the latest U.S. citizenship test for 2026?
Yes. Civics128 covers the latest civics test used in 2026. It is based on the official USCIS 128-question civics test that applies to Form N-400 applications filed on or after October 20, 2025 — the version current for 2026 applicants.
Why does USCIS call it the 2025 civics test?
USCIS officially named it the 2025 Naturalization Civics Test because it took effect for applications filed on or after October 20, 2025. It is still the current and latest test in 2026, so the same 128 questions apply to people preparing now.
How many questions are on the current citizenship civics test?
There are 128 official civics questions in the study pool. During the oral interview the officer asks up to 20 of them.
How many correct answers do I need to pass?
You must answer 12 of the 20 questions correctly to pass. The officer stops once you reach 12 correct (pass) or 9 incorrect.
Is the citizenship test oral?
Yes. The civics test is given orally during your naturalization interview. A USCIS officer reads the questions aloud and most applicants answer out loud in English. Applicants who qualify for the 65/20 special consideration may take the civics test in the language of their choice with an interpreter. Civics128's mock interview simulates the oral format.
Can I study in Turkish or Spanish?
Yes. Civics128 shows explanations and memory hints in English, Turkish, and Spanish so you can understand the material in your language. The official questions and answers stay in English, because most applicants answer in English at the interview. If you qualify for the 65/20 special consideration, USCIS allows you to take the civics test in the language of your choice with an interpreter.
Is Civics128 free? What is coming later?
Yes. Studying all 128 questions, flashcards, the mock interview, the 65/20 focused mode, and explanations in English, Turkish, and Spanish are free, with no account. Optional Pro features (study reminders, progress backup, and a personalized study plan) are coming soon — you can join the waitlist with just your email to be notified. No payment is taken today.
Do you collect my personal data?
No. Your study progress is saved only in your browser on your device, not on a server. We use privacy-preserving analytics that record anonymous product events (for example, 'started a mock interview') with no personal data, no profiles, and no ads. The only time we ask for anything is if you choose to join the waitlist with your email, and we never ask for immigration details.
Is Civics128 affiliated with USCIS?
No. Civics128 is an independent study app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by USCIS or any government agency. Study content is based on public USCIS resources and is for study purposes only.
